Where were you on December 14th, 2017? Wait, What? What is going on December 14th, 2017? A very critical vote by the FCC will happen on December 14th, 2017. Without Net Neutrality, Internet Service Providers (ISPs) will be able to provide you better service to content on the internet from their business partners and not others.
So a small business owner that has an Etsy site selling wares might not be able to compete to get into your internet browser as fast as say an Amazon or Walmart that can afford to pay for direct access to your home.
Sound fair?
As a first world nation believe the internet is a right, just like clean water, and power. Does it make sense to provide better cleaner water to people that can afford it and leave the not so good water for everyone else? In essence that is what Net Neutrality is avoiding.
Back in May 2017, the FCC proposed a rule change to overturn Title II (Net Neutrality) classifications and nearly 22 Million comments were received by the FCC out of which 98.5% of the unique comments were against the repeal of the Title II classifications set forth in 2015. 98.5%. Overwhelming. What did the new FCC Chairman do? Ignored the public comments and proceeded forward.
So in a few weeks, the five-member FCC panel will vote to repeal Title II. If party lines are followed with respect to the vote, the vote will come down 3-2 in favor of repealing Net Neutrality.
